HOW IT ALL GOT STARTED

Photography has always been a part of my life. Before I was ever in the picture, my Dad graduated with a degree in Fine Art and took up black and white photography.  At six years old, I was setting up the tripod with him and listening to lessons on composition, (waiting for "the decisive moment" as French photographer Henri Cartier-Bresson called it).  Dad made sure that I understood the beauty of film and the technology behind it.  The one thing I wanted to be when I grew up was a photographer.

As a teenager, I had the opportunity to study under Byron Baldwin in Charlotte, NC and was selected to participate in a summer program for young photographers at UNC's School of Journalism.  At Appalachian State University, I earned a degree in Technical Photography.  In Vancouver, British Columbia, I furthered my studies and began my business with the mentorship and guidance of world renowned photographers James Emler, Kaj R. Svensson, Ian McGuffie, and Alex Waterhouse-Hayward.

Along the way, I've enjoyed photographing weddings, fine art, portraiture, and fashion.  By allowing natural moments to unfold, the photographs I create are the evidence of the moment in beautiful form of a mixture of black and white and color.  My eye leans toward the story of the moment, not contrived or overproduced.

My work has been featured in People Magazine, Oprah Magazine and Network, The Today Show, Huffington Post, Martha Stewart, Southern Weddings Magazine, Weddings Unveiled, Weddings Magazine, The Knot, ESPN The Magazine, and Grace Ormonde Wedding Style.  I am a member of PPA (Professional Photographers of America).
